help me write a melody!
on: July 06, 2005, 08:08:06 PM
i think this is a good idea for a beginning of a new-age song;
i'm full of ideas for songs, but when it comes to melodies, i'm a total idiot.

i'll record everything - planning classic guitar, piano, maybe clarinet, drums (or not), violin (it will sound awful on my synth), anything else?

i just need a melody. just make it so that it will fit these first measures, then you can think of your own harmony and other stuff.

i'll attach a file and if there is any response, you will attach them too. we'll be breaking the rules, so please keep the files small. i did.  :P

Why don't you make something a wee bit longer, then maybe someone will record a guitar solo over it or something to that effect :)

Entire pieces can be based on a single chord. As far as a melody. invent a short " hook " work at expanding it into phrases and longer units. Are you familar with melodic variation techniques such as transposition, inversion,expansion, contraction, etc?
