looking for very chordal music
on: July 07, 2005, 12:12:02 AM
I want something to sight read and instantly analyze -- easy chord music.  I want something that is as close to being straight whole note chords as possible.

Any ideas?

You can go out and buy a hymnal.  The hymns are nothing more than chords.

Older hymnals are usually best for that. I sightread 600 hymns one summer :P

hmmm..... Is there anything simpler?

I'm thinking of something even easier to read than a hymnal.  Something with half or whole notes.  Maybe I'll just make something myself.

Thanks for the ideas though.  Any more?

"BACH - 371 Harmonized Chorales and 69 Chorale melodies", edited by Reimenschneider, published by Schirmer.

Anything by Rachmaninoff- just kidding but the Bach choralles are the way to go there, and they're great music that you might not otherwise come across

Older edition hymnals typically used half notes for the beat...and you can play them at whatever tempo you require.

Try Gaspard de la Nuit, I have heard from a couple of beginners that the piece was very simplistic... ;)
