I don't have any information I can give personally, but the Naxos.com website gives a nice write-up about Gorecki: https://www.naxos.com/mainsite/default.asp?pn=Composers&char=G&ComposerID=419

Symphony No. 3 - "Symphony of Sorrowful Songs" has been one of my favorite works. Has anything in particular drawn you to Gorecki?

did you know the story of Gorecki`s "legendary" 3rd symphony? The first performance was not very successful, but about 20 years after the work was composed an English radio station decided to play it several times a day, and this made it quite popular, it was on top of the pop charts in Britain and the US and Gorecki became the first living composer to sell "serious" music in more than a million copies.
