Do any body know about the  Steinway & Sons International Youth Piano Competition? Some of my friends participate in it. My teacher suggested me to participate in it too. Is it difficult? Do any one have taken part in it? Please tell me your experience. And help me to decide if I participate or not. (I am 15, Grade 8, can play Chopin's Etude, Mozart's sonata and Bach's Preludeand Fugue)

Three years ago when I was sixteen I participated in this competition in Holland (several countries organize the competition; at the end the winners of all countries play in Hamburg at the Steinway festival).
I won all the prizes possible, and  played at the Hamburg festival as the last one.
At the final I played Rachmaninoff Etude-Tableau op. 39 nr. 5 and Liszt/Horowitz Rakoczy March.
It's a nice competition and good experience to do it, but not very important.

I don't know all the countries exactly, but in any case: Holland, Germany, France, Spain,  China, and maybe one or two more.
The festival of winners will be in Hamburg (Germany)

As far as I know there is no general website of this competition, but correct me if I am wrong.
