i need to choose two of these
on: July 18, 2005, 10:03:57 PM
I finished Miroirs this morning (already had 3/4; just needed to do 1,2,5 which I had already worked on) which means i've got enough time open to do this now.

Here are 5 piano concerti and i need to choose two to learn.  please vote for the TWO you think would be best for me to learn.  If you dont know what some of these are then please go listen before making a decision.

I know I already sent you a PM, but I, personally, would do the Ginastera and the Massenet.

Yes same here.  Ginastera and Massenet.  However, are you learning both at the same time to full completion?  What are they for? Will you play them with orchestra?  In that case, the Ligeti would be awesome to play with the orchestra, but not with 2nd piano accompament.

yes and i appreciated it very much =)

Well so far it looks like the Ginastera and Ligeti are the top contenders.  I'm not sure if I'd be using these for competitions; mostly just because I really love these concerti =)

If these are just for fun, then I would learn them all. which order? you can choose a couple of ways.

1. in the order of you more likely getting to perform them

2. in order of your fav

or simply

3. alphabetical order.

using some advanced psychology, i picked the first two as skeptotamus probably put his favorites first.  but, then again...they are in alphabetical order.  how about (like me) page count?

follow your heart.
do you know why benches fall apart?  it is because they have lids with little tiny hinges so you can store music inside them.  hint:  buy a bench that does not hinge.  buy it for sturdiness.

not really; they're all kind of obscure pieces.
