1.   Your favourite virtue

Loyality, compassion, wisdom, humility, relativation.

2.   Your favourite qualities in a man

Loyality, intelligence, sense of humor

3.   Your favourite qualities in a woman

Loyality, intelligence, caring

4.   Your biggest flaw

Lack of taking the initiative

5.   Your favourite occupation

Music teacher, composer

6.   Your chief characteristic

Seriousness

7.   Your idea of happiness

Finding serenity

8.   Your idea of misery

being torn apart mentally

9.   Your favourite colour and flower.

Blue,  Passiflora caerulea

10.   If not yourself, who would you be?

How can I not be myself? Maybe one of my friends

11.   Where would you like to live?

A quiet place with very temperate weather. It shouldn't get too warm. And there should be some broadleaf forests. Some hills and water would also be nice. The less signs of people the better.

12.   Your favourite prose authors?

Hard one. Probably Asimov or Conrad

13.   Your favourite poets?

No poetry for me.

14.   Your favourite painters and composers?

Vermeer, J.S. Bach, Scriabin, Liszt and Barber

15.   Your favourite heroes in real life?

There are no heroes in real life. If you have some you have made a mistake.

16.   Your favourite heroines in real life?

Same thing

17.   Your favourite heroes in fiction?

Probably Data in TNG. It's hard to find character in fiction that really appeal to me. Most are too macho, too active, too perfect, too ideologic, too eager to win. I rather see someone defeat a problem through relativation or self sacrifice. In a sense not defeating but subdueing the problem. Some kind of exalted, transcendental person, detached from reality. I guess Data comes close since he isn't human. But this also means he is kind of cheating since he doesn't possess these characteristics because he just doesn't have anything there.

18.   Your favourite heroines in fiction?

This is even harder. Since I am male I relate to males. Actually I feel that I am forgetting someone that appealed to me in a book or movie. I have no idea how I would like to be as a woman. Would I want a family or focus on my profession. Probably the first, but that is so not me so I cannot really relate to it.

19.   Your favourite food and drink?

Vegetarian lasagna with vegetables or heavily spiced rice mihoen (thin noodles) with vegetables. And tonic or lemon juice.

20.   Your favourite names?

Sanne, Eleanor, Scott, Esther, Alexander, Isablle, Ethan.

And a lot of very strange names from all kinds of cultures that would be too strange to have as a kid.

And if someone knows a really nice male name starting with a 'D', please tell me.

21.   Your pet aversion?

Animals should be in nature. But keeping dogs or cats inside is really nasty. All those hairs everwhere. I would rather not eat in a place like that.

22.   What characters in history do you most dislike?

I can't say I like many people in history. It would be too hard to dislike all those people. So I can't point out people. But I agree with most people named.

(Except; Jesus, he seemed like a nice person. You can't blame the cruelty of christianity on him. You could even make a care that he argued against hierarchical religion based on the bible. Mohammed, because I don't know enough about him and Siddartha Gautama (Buddha), why the hell is he in there anyway? Are you confusing buddhism with hinduism?

ps. The people that said Lenin only, you probably meant Stalin. And for the people that named Hitler, Stalin and Mao killed more people. Poll Pot killed 1/3 of his country's population. Is he ruled a big country he would killed more than all of them together.)

23.   What is your present state of mind?

I can't really answer this question. I feel good and normal.

24.   For what fault have you most toleration?

Being naive

25.   Your favourite motto?

I don't have any

26.   How would you like to die?

While saving someone else.

ps. Did Bernard forget to fill out his list? Or is he just being rude?

I see that Bernhard hasnt revealed all...

THE PROUST QUESTIONNAIRE

1.   Your favourite virtue
Honesty

2.   Your favourite qualities in a man
Selflessness, good will, a genuine desire to help others

3.   Your favourite qualities in a woman
Honesty, the ability to laugh, strong principles (always willing to do the right thing, no matter if she is not caught)

4.   Your biggest flaw
I tend to be very inconsiderate of other peoples feelings or opinions with realizing it

5.   Your favourite occupation
Playing the piano.... ok ok!!! I give, its actually playing profesional Magic the Gathering (yes, Im a geek, I know)

6.   Your chief characteristic
Introversion

7.   Your idea of happiness
No worries. A state in which you are able to do what you want, when you want without any consideration of money or health.

8.   Your idea of misery
Being with stupid people, being in physical pain

9.   Your favourite colour and flower.
Blue - Grayish blue.  Tulips

10.   If not yourself, who would you be?
I have no idea how to answer this. If I were not myself, at the very least Id like to have a lot of money

11.   Where would you like to live?
Somewhere comfortable, urban but relatively quiet

12.   Your favourite prose authors?
I could go all artsy, but I really must admit Im a big fan of JK Rawling, Stephen King, Douglas Adams, Tolkien.... In short, anything I can get my hands on and read in a single night of insomnia

13.   Your favourite poets?
Elliot, no doubt about it. I also like Cummings quite a lot. In spanish I like very much Jaime Sabines, though  havent cracked open anything by him since I was 14, so maybe that has passed with time.

14.   Your favourite painters and composers?
Goya, Picasso... I tend to like everything actually, depends on the painting and the composition.

15.   Your favourite heroes in real life?
Ghandi. I think this is one of the most reasonable civilized persons in the history of humanity... he must be rolling in his grave. His way of being truly free and truly brave, in my opinion is one of the only times in history when a political movement has actually done justice to the moral principles of the great religions. He freed a country through reason alone. By showing others the wrong of their ways. I cant imagine something braver than what he did; much much more brave than going out and slaying people for the same reason.

16.   Your favourite heroines in real life?
Mother Theresa. Even if her religious order and the church have taken a big advantage of her image, that doesnt change the fact that any person who leaves everything so she can give to others shoulg be recognized as a hero.

17.   Your favourite heroes in fiction?
Tons of them... any one of the thousands of identical characters in cheap thrillers and novels. The common guy who ends up fighting an evil monster/corporation/wizard/psycho wife/serial killer/lord of darkness/terrorist organization/Russian mob/leftover warring spies from the cold war/neo-nazi cult leader.... etc. Typically the main character in most of the trashy stuff I so much like to read..

18.   Your favourite heroines in fiction?
See above.

19.   Your favourite food and drink?
Cheese, and lemonade.

20.   Your favourite names?
Quitzia

21.   Your pet aversion?

22.   What characters in history do you most dislike?
There are so many to choose from... should I say Hitler, the whole German people? Wagner actually.... Genghis Khan? Alexander the great? I tend to dislike "great" leaders and generals.

23.   What is your present state of mind?
I have Insomnia and Im actually answering a questionare.

24.   For what fault have you most toleration?
I dont have a lot of tolerance for faults, but I tend to be a lot more tolerant than I should with many people close to me.

25.   Your favourite motto?
I dont like mottos, or slogans. If anything can be summed up in a few words without losing a part of its value then it wasnt really worthwhile to begin with.

26.   How would you like to die?
Old, In my sleep, in a most unpainful death.

1.   Your favourite virtue The ability to love something and dedicate yourself to it.

2.   Your favourite qualities in a man The qualities of a Renaissance Man.  Intelligence, wit, a certain amount of culture without stuffiness, high ideals, lack of excessive frivolousness - a religious soul might term all this reverence

3.   Your favourite qualities in a woman The qualities of a Renaissance Woman (minus the expected subservience).

4.   Your biggest flaw Laziness, lack of foresight, disorganization

5.   Your favourite occupation Author.

6.   Your chief characteristic Indifference to reality.

7.   Your idea of happiness Having become a self-willed person.

8.   Your idea of misery Succumbing to ennui.

9.   Your favourite colour and flower. Blue.  Sword-lillies, at the moment.

10.   If not yourself, who would you be? Artur Rubinstein.

11.   Where would you like to live? Somewhere warm, but not humid so my piano stays in tune. :)

12.   Your favourite prose authors? At the moment, in no order - Hesse, Rand, Nietzsche, Dostoievsky.

13.   Your favourite poets? Goethe.

14.   Your favourite painters and composers? I like the Italian masters.  Also Goya.  In music Beethoven first, then the Romantics (except Brahms, for some reason - much of his work I cannot stand) and also those with Romantic sentiment (including some Scarlatti, Rachmaninoff, some Scriabin)

15.   Your favourite heroes in real life? The great musicians.  Especially Beethoven.  He lived my ideal: loving truth so much that he gave his entire life seeking it, and discovering some of the most profound things (Op 110, 127, etc.)  Hesse is a hero too - and all the people who were oppressed for seeking and proclaiming the truth.

16.   Your favourite heroines in real life? Same as above, though I realize that not many fit the description.  Myra Hess, and Amy Beach.  Rose Wilder Lane.

17.   Your favourite heroes in fiction? I like the heroes of the authors listed above - except Dostoiyevsky.  His characters really scare me.

18.   Your favourite heroines in fiction? Ditto.

19.   Your favourite food and drink? Freshly baked bread sounds appealing at the moment.  Chinese tea.

20.   Your favourite names? Anything Greek, Latin, Russian, Spanish, or inspiring.

21.   Your pet aversion? Politics and political authority.  Socialism.

22.   What characters in history do you most dislike? All the despots, especially the ones who tell the people that their suffering and dying is for the people or for the country.  I also dislike Martin Luther King.  I certainly have nothing against racial equality, but he preached socialism and the anti-virtue of suffering for the sake of redemption, in which I cannot believe.

23.   What is your present state of mind?

24.   For what fault have you most toleration? I don't know.  Some faults I don't have problems with.  Laziness?  An excess of frivolity?  An excess of seriousness?

25.   Your favourite motto? We must condemn publicly the very idea that some people have a right to repress others.  - Solzhenitsyn, Gulag Archipelago I.

26.   How would you like to die? I don't know.
Always play as though a master listened.
