How was your name chosen?
on: July 21, 2005, 03:15:47 AM
How was your name chosen? How did your parents chose it? From Bible? From a famous person [whisper](Recently: Manu Ginobili)[/whisper]. Or it's simply some random names your parents putted on you?

MINE

Chinese Name: Shih Shin

Purpose: Shih is my last name. Combined with "Shin" (New), it refers to "update" ( New changes every hour [whisper](Shih = Hour, Time in Chinese)[/whisper] )

English Name: Alex

It was back in, I forgot. Somewhere around 5-9, my English teacher simply chose it for me.

oh mine's really deep and meaningful my parents got my name from the actress natalie wood- her original name was natasha. and then my great aunt was like you can't give her a russian name (she wasn't very fond of the russians) but that's the coolest thing about it!

I was simply named after my paternal grandfather. As Ted is an abbreviated form of all three names, son, father and grandfather were all Teds. This caused delightful confusion when I was young.

Paternal grandfathers.

i really don't know where i got my name.  no one in my family has it.  susan means lily.

do you know why benches fall apart?  it is because they have lids with little tiny hinges so you can store music inside them.  hint:  buy a bench that does not hinge.  buy it for sturdiness.

Maternal Grandfather... He is from a town (which population is made up mostly of generations of families from Italy) in Brazil, in which some time ago most people were named either Mario or Maria, followed by a second name, middle and last names. That resulted my Maternal side of my family to have 8 Marios, that I know of, if not more... Well, people say it sounds better than the name my father chose: Mucke. The name of my German grandfather... My mother did not hesitate to deny it...

Mario Barbosa, or Mucke, whatever you wish... I don't like those names that much... ;D

Is that your given name, Mr. Carey, or did you give yourself the middle name?  :)

The rest of my name is my dad's name. George Andrews.

The story goes my Dad says to my Mom "You've gotta pick out the name of someone in my family for this kid", and she named me Robert after my uncle Bob... My little brother was named after my Dad's uncle, who he later grew to look exactly alike.

Knowing my family, that's probably just part of the story. I figure my mom gave all kinds of bizarre suggestions and my Dad got fed up and gave her that choice.

In her next marriage, she gave both children unusual names, heh heh.

LOL are you nuts?? ;D a real person named Don Juan?? hahahaha no I dont think my parents were THAT drunk the night they made up their minds.  haha Im just imagining what I would say in Kindergarten when I introduce myself "Hi, my name is Don Juan and I have already made love to all your mommies in their wild fantasies"

hahaha thats rich, buddy.  No... my real name is stupider than don juan --Orien.  You see, if my name really were donjuan I might have gotten a few laughs from people throughout the years, but instead because of how dumb my real name is, all I get are wrong pronounciations and gender confusion.  (as the substitute teacher at school goes "Is 'Oh-Ryan' here? Will he or she please say 'present?'"... dumb old cow.. ;))
