HELP!HELP!
on: July 22, 2005, 05:03:30 AM
Dear Freinds,

i am in deep ship now!!i am preparing for a recital now. Need a big and long piece to go. unfortunately i am out of ideas to choose pieces. the piece should be 15 mins long, with average difficult pieces. My teacher suggests Janacek sonata..but i disagree, i mean i cant do it..truly!

And please, i got no talent in doing 20th century music...If no Crumb, Janacek, SHostakovich, i will pretty glad~thank God!

My consider of  Reflets Dans L'eau,or i should doing the whole set??or bach pieces??Currently i have

1. Mozart Sonata k332
2. Chopin Ballade op23.no 1
3. Shostakovich prelude and fugue

Still left one piece to go...Any Suggestion? i personally dont feel 20th century music will fill in this recital anymore...thank you very much for all the suggestion~ :-[

luv,Felia

C.Debussy-"Pour le piano"
(or  Liszt one of the raphsodies or
Prokofjev one of sonatas or....there are a lot of pieces it depends of your possibilities and composers that you prefer)

If you want a Baroque piece, you can try one of the Handel suites:

Suite no. 3 in Dm – 23 minutes
Suite no. 4 in Em – 14 minutes
Suite no. 5 in E – 14 minutes
Suite no. 7 in Gm – 23 minutes
Suite no. 8 in Fm – 13 minutes
Suite no. 9 in Gm – 14 minutes
Suite no. 10 in Dm – 15 minutes
Suite no. 11 in Dm – 14 minutes
Suite no. 13 in G – 18 minutes

(The other suites are around 10 minutes or slightly less)

You can also try Scarlatti Sonata K19 (12 minutes), K402 (13 minutes), K460 (11 minutes), K478 (12 minutes).

Times are approximate. In the case of Scarlatti, it is now accepted that many of the sonatas were meant to be played in pairs, and a few in threes. If you do that, then many more sonatas fit your time constraint. Ask again if you decide to do a pair of sonatas, or a set of three.

Best wishes,
Bernhard.

i am not sure about your fourth piece but I do have one suggestion: save your chopin ballade as your last piece (If you have the choice) I think that you will steal the show with it Good luck with your recital.

really touch with you all's suguession, how about doing Debussy Toccata???do you think that is nice to fit in the repertoire?

My teacher think to do an shinny ending of the recital, so he insist me to do something eye strucking or heart pounding..LOL

I really dunno which one to choose. but still i cant go blindly...any advise...please... :-\
