A good Bach piece
on: July 22, 2005, 12:39:15 PM
Hell there, i need your help...

I am looking for a fairly challenging J.S Bach piece of about 10 mins or under. Could anyone recommend something? Anyone got any sheet music/recordings? Or could anyone recommend a website where i could download some recordings?

Many thanks  ;)

I'm not sure exactly how long it is but you could try the Italian concerto. Or a partita or even a French or English suite.
You either do or do not. There is no try- Yoda

Life is like a piano, what you get out of it depends on how you play it

english suite no.2 is a good choice
it is fairly difficult (especially the prelude, which is very beautiful)
but it's about 16 minutes.

Hi, Try one of the Toccatas.  They should be played more often.   I frequently play the G major.

I like the Myra Hess transcription of "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring."

It is about 8 minutes, and of moderate difficulty.

The Chromatic Fantasy in its original form, or one of the transcriptions (Busoni, Sorabji) sounds quite fun.
