Easy to intermediate piece
on: July 15, 2003, 07:40:42 PM
I have just finished fur elise. I thought it is an easy piece.
But within an hour or so, I finished the whole piece with
perfection and feeling. I am a definitely beginner for three months.
But i don't know which is intermediate piece.
I only spent 5 minutes on Hanon #1 and #2.
I am now currently studying Bach prelude #1, Bach two part invention #1 (uncompleted),
two part invention #2 (uncompleted).
I have memorised Left hand and right hand part for invention 1, but cannot coordinate
well. And i have memorised right hand part for invention 2.
I wanted someone to judge me on how good i am now. Can anyone help me?
And which one is intermediate pieces? Or which composer composer most easy-intermediate
piece?

Hey, what's the hurry ? And oh yeah, learning a piano piece is not easy. What do you mean playing with perfection and feeling ? I am sure your teacher will find actionable feedback for your playing, especially since you just started 3 months ago. Well, anyway, if you struggle a lot with the technical parts of a piece, chances are you will not be able to intepret and express the music decently.
Anyway, if you are looking for intermediate pieces , you can try buying keith snell collection, it is graded from grade 1 to 10, providing a steady and reasonable progression. You can find them in your good music stores ( since you are in Singapore, these can be find at Music Essentials at Meridien Hotel ).
And there's no need for anyone to judge how good you are. The best person to judge is your teacher. You should follow him/her instructions carefully to obtain good techniques and musicality in your piano education. I know you start late, but hey, in the end strive to make good music, don't care about how difficult pieces you can play or how advanced others are.
