Hi everybody,

(I am not sure this is where I should post my problem... feel free to move it to a more appropriated section if need be... Thanks !)

I play on a digital piano Yamaha GT20 that is connected to a sequencer Yamaha MDF3. When recording, that latter generates files .Xnn (.X01 to .X99). When these files are played, everything is ok.

Now the .Xnn files can be copied to a computer and renamed to .Mid so that they can be recognized by, for example, RealPLayer or Windows Media Player.

The result would be OK if the effect of the damper pedal was faithfully reproduced... but this is not the case ! Sometimes it is there and sometimes not...

Just for "fun" I tried to convert the .MID (initially .Xnn) to .MP3 but the result is the same: the effect of the damper pedal is not ALWAYS there !

Could someone help me find a solution ?

Thanks in advance !

take the midi out of your digital piano and let a program ( steinbergs cubase ) record what you are doing. Then save your file as a .mid

the file .Xnn is ment to be a file for your dig. piano and not for playback on computer.

you cannot just change the extension and everything will be alright ( otherwise it would be quite simple to change midi to mp3 or wave. To bad that isnt possible ).

good luck!

Thanks !

Apparently there are many different versions of Cubase available on the market ... I guess I will just need a light version (I do not intend to edit music, compose, etc.) but just to record myself...

Do you know what version I should be looking for ?

Thanks again

All the best !
