There are 8 abrsm grades, and 10 rcm. A grade 8 ABRSM is about the same as a grade 10 rcm. Wich prooves the rcm sucks again MORE than abrsm. Then a piece may be 1 or 2 grades higher in RCM.

I would agree, usually two not one..
RCM has a fairly useless gr 3 and 4...I wish grade 2 was harder and 5 was a little easier so we could just skip them both...
So that leaves most comparisons about two grades lower. Every once and a while RCM really throws some easy easy songs in there, even in gr. 10...But I guess that is inevitable

I did grade 7 RCM in 3 months, finding it so easy, but I found grade 8 a big leap. Nine and ten I guesse are pretty balanced, with the techniques and all... But I find performer's ARCT wayyy too broad, some of the pieces there are easier than grade 10 pieces...

I think RCM is very well laid out. Each grade has its own challenging pieces and easier pieces, obviosly because there are some people who are more advanced in each grade. The ABRSM only goes up to grade 8, which I would say is about equivalent to grade 9 RCM and then it stops... what do you do from here.... go to University? I really have no clue what I'm talking about...

the ABRSM and the Trinity college boards have the same grading system...
grades initial to 8 is the first lot. then you go into diplomas: for trinity it is ATCL, LTCL and FTCL for abrsm it ABRSM diploma, LRSM and FRSM
