Comments/Help/Etc. on my Diploma program?
on: August 02, 2005, 06:35:04 PM
Having just finished the grades (ABRSM) i need to start on my Diploma - how's this for a programmme (it may very well be really bad - I usually just play my grade pieces at recitals and so have no experience in putting together a good programme):

Bach - Prelude & Fugue in E major no.9 book 2
Beethoven - probably sonata no. 9 in E major, also considering 5 in C minor, 12 in A flat major
Schubert - Impromptu op.90 no. 3 in G flat major
Debussy - Prelude book 1 no.4 'Les sons et les parfums tournent dans l'air du soir'

All that comes to about 25-30 minutes I think, so I have about 5 minutes left for a 'showoff' type piece of my own choice - any suggestions here?

Any comments or suggestions on this programme would be much appreciated.

What are your strengths? For example, if you have great trills, the Venetian Boat Song by Mendelssohn is good. Or the Flight of the Bumblebee if you are good at fast fingers.
Ahh llamas......is there anything they can't do?

Maybe take a look at:

Albeniz's Recuerdos de viaje, Op.71 Puerta de tierra (No.5, Bolero)
Rach's Moment Musicaux Op.16 No.4 (Presto)
Turina's Danzas andaluzas, Op.8 (No.3, Zapateado)
Granados' Spanish Dances (No.7, Valenciana o Calesera)
