Scriabin - 2 Morceaux Op. 57

This is a live recording taken during my 3rd year recital.  The two pieces of Op. 57 were probably written around the time of the 5th Sonata.  They cary the langorous, sensual and sometimes erotic feeling characteristic of Scriabin's middle period.

Very beautiful. I like your freedom of rubato and sensous approach. I think you capture Scriabin's erotic feeling very well. I'm not sure if its the recording, but I thought the sound could be a little fuller, especially at the climax of phrases. The soft parts are beautifully done though.

This is the first time I have heard of Kawai EX, but I always find them to be too harsh and metallic in sound. The actions were too heavy and hard to control.  I owned a Kawai upright, and never liked it.  Great performance by the way. Very intimate and sensual where it needed to be.  Nice control and interpretation. What they give you for your grade?

Classicarts, I know what you mean about Kawai's.  My old upright was a Kawai, and since my university has a contract with them, I've played the gamut of their grands.  I know the old R series had a verry stiff action, the bigger the piano the heavier the action - this was quite unfortunate since this series had quite a nice tone.  The newer RX series is quite different, and if you haven't tried it you should.  The action is much better and balanced. 

The EX (Kawai's 9 foot concert grand) is a totally different piano from the ones you normally see in conservatoires.   The sound is quite different and the action verry light.  My only complaint about it is that it doesn't give much depth in tone. 

Thanks for your comments.  I believe I got an 82 or something like that.  Well, it was good enough to get me two performance awards for it.
