I have just run accross this fellow, Paul Cantrell (have you heard of him before ?).  You can listen to his full recordings of original works as well as download his musical scores in full, all for free (both the recordings and scores are of decent quality).  His music is fairly atmospheric and I find it pretty interesting, though these pieces would probably not be considered as "show stoppers" and would probably not appeal to everyone.

His music crosses back and forth between what is commonly considered as dissonance and concordance (which I love), he has a keen sense of silence and I am particularly fond of his artistic use of it.  He employs a broad range of aural texture and is un-shy about using much of the keyboard's full range.  His performances have an improvisational quality.  I will say, they are very similar in character, one to another, and this may be something that is unappreciated.

I particularly enjoy "A Shadow in the Darkness" (starts on the slower side, and grows wonderfully  intense).  I would be interested to hear what other people think of his music, you might have fun just having a listen.

 Great site! Thank you.

(And no, I had never heard of either Paul Cantrell or Donald Betts – even though Betts appears to be quite famous).

You may like this site as well:

Best wishes,
