Okay, I have no idea if this has been done before and I don't care. I've left all options open for those of you who like the more obscure sonatas. If you wish, post and tell me why you like a particular sonata. My personal favorites:

Op.2 No.1
Op.7
Op.13 'Pathetique'
Op.27 No.2 'Moonlight'
Op.28 'Pastorale'
Op.53 'Waldstein'

Shame on you, Phil. You ask us to pick three and then you list six.

'Les adieux', Op.109, and the gem of the pre-'Pathetique' sonatas, Op.10 No.3.  I'd take a recording of just the first movement of that one to a desert island with me.

My top 3:

1- Op 13
2- Op 2-2
3- Op 90
The masterpiece tell the performer what to do, and not the performer telling the piece what it should be like, or the cocomposer what he ought to have composed.

Yeah!!! The shame!

My favourite Beethoven sonata list goes way beyong 3 or 6 items, so I'm not going to participate,  I'm afraid. Well, just the poll, maybe! :P 8)

Sorry, people. I meant that you can post however many you wish in the thread, but I wanted to keep the poll from being too weighty. So I figured 3 would be a good number of votes. Guess I was wrong though...

All of you are absolutely pathetic. Thank God there were atleast two that listed Op. 106 and a few that listed Op. 111.

And why in the hell would you say pick three Beethoven sonatas?

Ghey poll.

And so I'm pathetic because, in addition to op. 106 and op. 111 I mention the Waldstein?  Dude, you need to recalibrate.

Kudos, that was a good comeback. I stand corrected. Apion is the only member who has commented here that is worth something.

Dude, we're ALL entitled to our own opinions. Just because we like sonatas that are NOT Op.106 and Op.111 doesn't mean we're not worth anything. Do me a favor and shut the hell up. I don't like being called pathetic just because I like early Beethoven more than late Beethoven.
