Question about Beethoven Sonata op.31 no.2
on: August 09, 2005, 02:38:12 PM
Hi,
I'm new to the boards but I like what I'm reading so far. I'm working on my BFA recital this year and I'm attempting to tackle the Beethoven Sonata op.31 no.2 (The Tempest . . . I think). I've already started work on the 1st movement and my goal is to get the whole thing by November. Does this seem like a resonable goal or am I being too overzealous in my attempt?

Technically, my only problem is the triplets, I can't get them soft enough or fast enough.

Give us an idea of where you stand as a pianist. How much experience do you have? What else have you played?

My background is varied to say the very least. I was self taught for 10 years and auditioned for college on piano and got in (it was a shock to me) I've been studying now with my professor for 3 years. As far as other works I've played, I'll do it by composer

Bach-2&3 part inventions, currently working on P/F in G minor. I've also played the Bb prelude.
Scarlatti- K.149, K.35
Mozart- K.267, K.283. K.333
Clementi- op.36 sonatinas
Chopin- Nocturne Op.9 no.2, Prelude in B minor, currently working on Op.48 No.1
Schubert Op.142 no.2
Schumann-Phantasietanz
Debussy-Doctor Gradus Ad Parnassum, The Little Shepard
Prokofiev-Fugitive Visions Op.22 1 &13
This is just what I can remember off the top of my head. My college music program is rather small, there're just about 6 piano majors total. My recital has to be an hour's worth of music. I hope this is better answers your question.
