Pachelbel
on: August 14, 2005, 06:44:04 AM
I know this is very tiresome, but I am a very advanced piano student who is constantly asked to play Pachelbel's Canon in D at weddings (not my favorite piece ::)). Can someone suggest the least awful arrangement?

Rocco Iavonne's is the one I have at home... It is at an intermediate level, I would say... And it sounds great. The middle section has thirds, which can cause very few problems... This is quite a coincidence. I was asked to play at a marriage recently, and I might play this piece... This is not a silly arrangement, that has very few notes... It is a good arrangement, that captures the sound very well. I hope this helps...

As best I can remember the arranger's name, there's a good one by Robert Schultz.

I hope I remembered that right.

It is identified as "advanced."

you should write your own neo-romantic, cadenza filled, grandiose arrangement of it  :)

Perhaps David Lanz arrangement?

Haha, I use to like the piece but it does get really boring and it's ALWAYS played at weddings *shakes head*
