Bach-Busoni BWV 639 Ich ruf zu dir, Herr Jezu
on: August 19, 2005, 12:13:23 AM
Can anyone give me a hint on how to finger the right hand? The voice and the arpeggio in the right hand are sometimes an eleventh apart.

wonders if there is some internet site with free organ music that you could get some ideas. isn't the bass often held with pedal (thus using sostenuto on the piano) so you can arpeggiate things? wonders if someone should turn this bach-busoni transcription into duet form? what if, what if you could play duet with an organ? would the tunings be off?
for anyone that wants to view the score (without fingerings) and help:

scroll down on the left until you get to chorales and then the title.

Piano score.
It isn't that it is impossible. I am a beginner without a teacher and I am wondering how to finger it.

your busoni transcription is better. i forgot and just copied the bach chorale. they both have similar difficulties. ask bernhard, xvimbi, koji, or lostinidlewonder (among many) or boliverallimon(plays for church). someone who's played it. i've played another bach- busoni chorale, but i can't find my book. i think it had fingering in it, so will look again. between my kids and many different piles of music, i am feeling kind of disorganized.

happened to remember something from a brahms intermezzo similarity (large stretch).
my teacher told me to not do the 'rainbow effect' or whatever where you jump into the air and land on the high note - but, simply make a quick sideways motion to the high note. it is quite effective and gets you there quickly so you can plan your attack/tone. don't even stretch your hand out more than necessary for notes you are playing. just 'zip.' this is a cool trick and keeps your hand relaxed.
that'll be $50. (just kidding)
