how do I contact Leslie Howard?
on: August 22, 2005, 12:30:19 AM
I am trying to find the sheetmusic for Liszt's cadenza to his Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2, but I just cant..

I was hoping to email Leslie Howard and ask him where to find it or if he has it on hand.

Does anyone know Leslie howard's email?  If not, do you know where I can find it?

I know that a while back there was someone asking a question about finding sheetmusic for the piano version of Mazeppa: Poeme Symphonique No. 6 and they claimed to have emailed Mr. Howard.

Please help! Thanks,
donjuan

Pianists can usually be contacted through their managing agents/representatives. Check out https://www.lesliehowardpianist.com/representative.htm

i can just scan a copy of it and upload to a hyperlink if that would help...which cadenza would you like (he wrote several for no. 2)?

The only cadenza I am aware Liszt wrote himself for the piece is the one you can hear in Paderewski and Dr. Howard's recordings.  If you could upload that one (it begins with a trill and sounds like it turns into a diminished chord tremolo etc) as well as any other ones you know Liszt wrote, that would be great!!!

If this is too much work, then please just upload your favorite one!
thanks so much.

Women and the Chopin Competition: Breaking Barriers in Classical Music

The piano, a sleek monument of polished wood and ivory keys, holds a curious, often paradoxical, position in music history, especially for women. While offering a crucial outlet for female expression in societies where opportunities were often limited, it also became a stage for complex gender dynamics, sometimes subtle, sometimes stark. From drawing-room whispers in the 19th century to the thunderous applause of today’s concert halls, the story of women and the piano is a narrative woven with threads of remarkable progress and stubbornly persistent challenges.
