To dark of a programe?
on: August 22, 2005, 10:48:08 PM
This is what my recital programe looks like. I think its pretty cool, but maybe a little to dark.
Brahms- op. 79 no.1
- op. 118 no. 3
Schubert- op. 90 no. 1
Intermission
Beethoven - op. 111 (First movement only)
Chopin - Nocturne in f minor op. 55 no. 1
Scriabin - op. 8 no 12

I personally like the pieces that you chose, but I tend to prefer dark music, and have absolutely NO CLUE how to arrange a recital program.

It all happens on Discworld, where greed and ignorance influence human behavior... and perfectly ordinary people occasionally act like raving idiots.
A world, in short, totally unlike our own.

This is how I would arrange it:
Brahms (same order)
Chopin Nocturne
Intermission
Schubert Impromptu
Beethoven Sonata
Scriabin Etude
The 79-1 is a good piece to open with IMO. I like its entrance at the beginning.
The Scriabin Etude is an encore, right? Even if it isn't, it should go at the end anyway because it's got such a powerful ending. What a great way to end a program.

Yeah, the scriabin works as a encore, but its also i think a good ending to this kind of programme. Its real fireworks.
