Well, just suppose a member were to die.  Nobody would know because, obviously, this member cannot post and say "Hey guys, I'm dead."  Maybe somebody would notice that this member wasn't posting anymore and try to send them a PM.  But this wouldn't work either, because, being dead, the member couldn't respond.

I think everybody alive should post here and let us know they're OK.  Those who don't post we will assume are dead.

But what if then someone posts that they're ok, and then two weeks later has a heart attack and dies?  No one will know that they're ok, because they will just read the post written two weeks earlier and assume that they're still ok.  For this to work, everyone would have to post every day saying that they're ok.

Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk,
I’m a woman’s man: no time to talk.
Music loud and women warm, I’ve been kicked around
Since I was born.
And now it’s all right. it’s ok.
And you may look the other way.
We can try to understand
The new york times’ effect on man.

Whether you’re a brother or whether you’re a mother,
You’re stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive.
Feel the city breakin’ and everybody shakin’,
And we’re stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin’ alive.

 ;D

if you live in LA, there's a high likelihood that you'll die of a gunshot wound to the chest or head if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time - or your car looks really good.  i've always driven old cars (until we just bought our new van) and been glad about it.  i mean, who wants to get shot over a car.  if you have a good one and an old one, drive the old one whenever you go into a bad neighborhood.  then, you can park and not worry.  (i used to buy fabric in the middle of la - no, not drugs) the only bad thing about my old car now is that the doors don't lock, so i can't drive it at night to school.  if someone tried to get in, it would be easy.  there's no stereo either, just the radio.

good way to end up dead.  stay out past midnight.  my parents used to tell me this.  teenagers should really listen!  they wanted me to come home before midnight, so they gave me deadline of 11:00.  that way, if i was late, i wouldn't be out past midnight.  i am appalled at all the women who go missing and then end up murdered.  i tell my kids to always go out together with a group.  it's not safe anymore to go anywhere alone. women should always have lots of girlfriends around.  and, not take chances on anyone they feel kinda uncomfortable around.  too many ax murderers and really strange kooks.  goes for guys, too, unfortunately.

Nooooooooo!  there's so much to live for.  don't even entertain the thought!  think like beethoven.  have a reformation.  he decided that as long as there was some good he could do for others, he'd endure whatever he had to.  God hears your prayers too.  don't give up (ever).  it's called quitting.

Exactly, if Beethoven was able to be one of the greatest composers ever and be deaf and endure it for years that's pretty impresive. I think some people can endure so much unhappiness/pain/misery, the suicide-ists are cowards but very brave at the same time. I just couldn't do it.

If you think about it, it is a miracle we're all here in the 1st place - as we came from a egg of many a sperm of thousands, we survived in the womb, we survived labour, we survived infancy, some of us adulthood etc, we are lucky. We may still die tomorrow or next week so i just try to do the best i can and enjoy it.

In 100 years time none of this will matter as none of us will be here, except the echo of piano forum folk reaching out from the dead,

true.  but it's the thought that counts.  thalbergmad is truly sweet.

although, i can see bernhard at the gathering kinda wondering about the hanon.  was this some kind of unresolved family squabble?  i think he should get the cross bow.

why do people leave cheap fake jewelry, plastic seamed 'crystal' glasses, and old tv folding trays to the family they think can use them?  and, then we find out 20 years later they had a po box or bank vault that they stored all their stocks and bonds in and the money is confiscated and used by the govt or someone completely unrelated.  (just wondering).

thalbergmad, if i die, you get my carbon-fiber peugot bike.  you may need to get a seat that is more comfy than the one on it.  this bike goes really super fast.  watch out for the little kids that wander across the trail, and the animals.

bernhard, you get all my books and all my husbands books (he kept all of his college books, all of his paperbacks, all of everything - and won't throw anything out!)  you can pick and choose what you want and burn the rest.  my favoritist book right now is the new one by roeder on 'the history of the piano concerto.'  it is super-sized, too. also, his unabridged dictionary from random house (super-sized).

to janice - my bible and all the candles, tablecloths, flowers, and plants.

to jenni r - my cat, and all the accompanying acoutriments (cat carrier)

to siberian husky - whatever stuff from my cd collection he wants (suggests my cole porter songs cd with rebecca luker and all the mozart concertos with murray perhia)

to thalberg - my garden?  beautiful things.  my  piano (kawaii)  i think thalberg lives semi near me so - he could move the piano easiest.

(i'd better watch what i say - and sign this someday)  noone in my family plays the piano yet - unless the three year old becomes different.

lostinindlewonder and bob and all my other favorite people - pictures of myself after my recital 20 years ago.  (in the long red dress that put a  choke-hold on me and ruined my recital).  i couldn't move my arms very well and my feet kept getting tangled in the hem.  i had to kick pedal.

to ted, i leave all my jazz books (2 of them so far) untouched and in good order.  also, husbands trumpet (bent as it is, but real gold, i think).  played for many a dance.  oops.  i'm giving away my husband's stuff.

aww   gee, Thalbergmad...You have touched my heart.  :-* I will use four students instead of three, in your honor.

I'd better get started.  Don't go to the other side yet; I will need some help.

Awww LOL, thanks i love cats! I was thinking about cats today funnily enough - the one who kept coming to visit me a few weeks ago has disappeared, either she's gone back to her family or has been run over  :'(
