curiosity question
on: August 26, 2005, 03:49:50 AM
so say you are auditioning and you know that one of the jurors has won the franz liszt competition. would you perform liszt in your audition? what if they won a Bach comp or really any composer. would you perform that performer?

of course I would play Liszt in front of the Liszt expert. If you are going to rely on the ignorance of the jurors to lubricate your chances of doing well at the audition, you truly dont deserve anything, imo
cmon now, boldness of attack!

did you choose liszt by chance? If not perhaps i can help you. I performed my graduate performance piece in front of five professors who had played it and understood it thoroughly. I have since acquired an acute expertise in the study of Liszt, so if your situation is based on a reality, than i would be more than happy to advise you...especially in the case of liszt

funny, this was vaguely mentioned by my teacher in my piano lesson yesterday, cos one of my Amus examiners is obsessed with liszt. but i'm not playing liszt, which is fine by me cos if i was the chances of him knowing every single note i get wrong is less when not playing liszt!!
