Welte-Mignon "original" baby grand
on: August 28, 2005, 12:45:00 PM
I just acquired a 5'6" baby grand I would like to know more about.  The only markings I can find on it say "Welte-Mignon" with the word "original" underneath in smaller letters.  The serial number is 66147.  It is not a player piano, despite W-M's reputation for building such instruments.  Any ideas??

Thanks,
Marty Neilan

The only way it could be the "original" baby grand is if it were manufactured in the Seventeenth Century.

In a more serious vein, perhaps "original"  is just an advertising slogan --

Let us know if you can identify the original date and place of manufacture.

I was kind of thinking someone on this board might know; that's why I put the full name including the "original" and the serial number.  I have been unable to find anything on my own yet, other than the extensive player piano history of this company.
