I think they're fascinating to a degree....i guess partially because I never learned how they work. (I mean how they produce electricity...i know that the wind makes them spin!)

Its quite simple. The kinetic energy produced by the moving windmill is transformed into electrical energy.

Hello there!  I'm 20 years old and live in Denmark (studying software engineering). I just recently got hooked on piano playing (took some lessons 5 years ago, but I didn't like it). I've played accordion since i was about 9, so it's much easier to learn things now. But the most annoying thing is that the keys are SO hard to press compared to what i am used to  :D I really need to have stronger fingers (any suggestions?). The difference is of course that you use the keys to produce the sound and not the bellow. What I also hate is the key-layout, especially the black keys, because it forces the fingers in so many awkward positions (i am used to a chromatic accordion). But i absolutely love the sound that comes out of a piano, wow  :)

I don't know enough music yet to have a favorite composer, but I am not too thrilled about a single composer. I might also be a bit picky.  Britney is good though  :P

I currently have a reportoire of 3 pieces (the minute waltz and 2 pieces by yann tiersen) and I am learning Arabesque 1 by Debussy (great piece!).

Hello everyone.

I'm "Imbetter's" father. I tried to convince him to drop the name the minute I heard what it was (at the time it was "Imbetterthenyou"). I'm surprised no one commented that it should have been "Imbetterthanyou". But I had no luck convincing him to change it. It was apparently the pressure that Nils put on him that convinced him to change it to the current user name, which admittedly, is somewhat less offensive. Actually, now that I think about it, Nils changed the name for him. But he's only eleven and will surely get wiser as time goes on.

Anyway, I'm Jonathan's father. We have been having a great time enjoying his piano llife and the piano/music life in general. We have gone to loads of piano concerts that fortunately are readily and conveniently available in our area. We listen to tons of CDs and discuss our favorites, make comparisons, etc. The last concert we went to was Andreas Haefliger, in a small, lovely room in Beacon, NY. Haefliger is wonderful. The performance was compelling, heartfelt, musical and technically brilliant. Not likely to hear a more satisfying "Appasionata", "Pastoral" or Schubert B-flat Sonata. We even got a signed CD!

I'm a clinical psychologist in private practice in Newburgh, NY. Have always loved music, classical as well as jazz-Coltrane, Monk, Miles Davis and a bunch of others.  But as I have been listening to a superabundance of classical piano I am astounded by how gorgeous so much of the music is. As far as my own musical accomplisments I played the accordian for a few years as a kid, diddled with the piano when there was one around, played the guitar for a few years and generally don't have much talent. But I sure can appreciate what others accomplish.

So, let me know if Imbetter misbehaves. I will take care of it. I admit I failed to insure that his first user name be changed, but I hope to do better in the future.

Hope this wasn't too long of an introduction. mogulnick

What I like: Music, art, school, piano.
Astrology: Does it really matter?

Favorite animal: the Tiger
Favorite food: fuji apples
Favorite candy: dark chocolate  ;D
I wanna be: Hahaha, I have no idea.
My greatest wish: To play the piano better and to someday preform.

Piano related:

First approach at the piano: I've always played around on a keyboard, but when I was 11, I finally got a teacher.
Taking lessons: Not currently. I stopped taking lessons when I was 14 or 15. I'm trying to find a new teacher, though.
Performances: Haaah. No.
Favorite composers: Bach, Beethoven, Clementi, Mozart, Brahms, Burgmuller, ect.
Favorite Pianist:
Favorite piece: To play? Most definitly Clementi's Sonatina in G Major, opus 32. Num. 2.

Y'all will have to bear with me. I havn't taken lessons in...forever, and I'm quite rusty. I've never stopped playing the piano, and I can still play everything I was able to when I stopped taking lessons (and more, since I've been teaching myself).

Anyways, hi! ;D

I'm not sure I know what you mean

You don't want to know... if there is somebody whose idol is NOT Christ it is thal... However, there are many who post in the anything but piano forum who are very vocal about thier faith.

Hi everybody :) My name is Pat and obviously I play guitar and drums. I just started piano lessons and I can't wait to learn about music theory and such. I'm a big fan of rock, blues, and jazz, but of course i appreciate classical music as well.
