Hey! New guy here.

As stated in the subject, I'm just wondering if anyone has every played this piece by Moszkowski, I enjoyed listening to it on CD but I don't know how well known this song is to most pianists. I downloaded the sheet music (probably the best $1.75 CND I've ever spent haha), and gonna print it out later to learn.

I really liked the composition of this 'Caprice Espagnol' Op.37, I can't put into words why I liked it, it just 'sounded good'. I quit at gr8 level piano 6 years ago and now just play for the sheer joy of good music. The 8 years of taking lessons to me, felt like writing a bunch of jiberish after learning the alphabets. It was just learning the notes and playing what the teacher gave you to play. I don't think I'll ever go back to lessons, but there are tons of online sources to read from. I want to learn more about music itself so I can appreciate music all the more thru the understanding of its structure. I was a stubborn student, never did the scales or technical theory stuff. In another perspective, I wanted to paint when I didin't even know the basics of drawing.

By gr8 level, sight-reading isn't much of an issue, so I can play any note on the sheet of any piece, but it's disturbingly annoying when the hardest part of the piece is just a simple scale pattern that I coulda nailed down much easier had I perfected all my scales and fingering! Practice your scales n00bies!!!

So yeah, was just bored yesterday and signed up on this forum, but I'm sure I'll get something outta this. I got a good laugh from that "PICTURES" thread, funny people on here.

Ciao for now.

Welcome.

I used to play the Caprice many years ago and a fine piece it is too. Makes an excellent encore with all the fast repeated notes. Not easy by any means.

Like you, I got to grade 8 and then chucked it in. Now only have about 2 lessons per year.

In my humble opinion, the best Moszkowski is his stupendous transcription of Wagners Tristan & Isolde. That took me 2 months to learn.

The Piano Concerto is more than worth a listen.
