URGENT!!! Haydn Sonatas
on: September 08, 2005, 04:14:53 PM
Could someone please suggest an authoritative edition of the complete piano sonatas by Haydn?  Also, how many piano sonatas did he compose and have published?  In all editions I have seen there are 52, but I have  heard talks of unfinished sonatas.  Is this true, and if so are the unfinished sonatas contained within the 52 published regularly as the complete sonatas?

It is such a treat to be able to collaborate with such knowledgeable colleagues, both close and distant.

Vielen Dank!
Asked if he had ever conducted any Stockhausen,Sir Thomas Beecham replied, "No, but I once trod in some."

I know that wiener urtext has the first bar of the unfinished sonatas in their edition, and that there aren't any copies of it.
