Need opinions... sry another thread on my repertoire...
on: September 09, 2005, 01:58:32 AM
Okkk... I can play the full grieg sonata, but I am getting kinda tired of playing it, and want to play a beethoven sonata. Ppl have recommended the tempest, which they say is around the same difficulty technically as the Grieg. It'd be a good help if you could list any other beethoven sonatas around the same TECHINCAL difficulty as the grieg...
And also, I have been inspired to learn the Prok 3rd sonata... what well known pieces does it compare to, and is it more difficult than his tocatta, which I got a small chunk done, but could not get any further...

Haha, kinda ironic that i'm doing both the Grieg and Beethoven Tempest sonata for my recital. For other Beethoven sonata's around that level, you can try his Opus No. 7, Opus 2 No. 3, or Opus 10 No. 3 (which i think is a bit harder).
As for the prok. sonata, try No. 2. in d-minor. It is a little bit easier but still quite technically demanding as well.
