Mendelhssohn Andante cantabile and presto agitato
on: September 10, 2005, 03:42:16 PM
Has anyone here played this piece? it doesn't seem to have come up anywhere here. i've got a good recording (Benjamin Frith, Naxos) and would like to know how tough it is to perform, compared to, say, the chopin ballade 1.
thanks
You either do or do not. There is no try- Yoda

Presto is tough to give sharp staccato sounds to the RH and draw out the melody. It demands a developed sense of touch at the piano thats for sure. Andante Cantabile is not so difficult, very much standard procedure.
