What countries have you been to?

What countries have you been to or lived in?
What is your favorite country to visit/live in and why?

My list is short:
USA (live here)
Russia - Moscow (eight months)
Canada - Vancouver (ten days)

I enjoyed both Russia and Canada but found them to be vastly different. Russia is a land of deep ancient beauty. Canada is too close to America but not close enough so it's hard to make a judgement on it. I liked it though.

if i include my husband's travels:

france
canada

just mine:

canada (toronto)
israel
jordan

am impressed how many people are world travellers.  it makes you appreciate what you have back home - when you are travelling a couple of weeks.  we were told not to drink ice water in israel, and i forgot once.  that was the day i missed a tour bus because of needing to stay close to the bathroom.  i was so mad.  also, when you eat food that you are not used to, just eat little bits (right!).  you never know what can give you montezuma's revenge.  and, then, on the other hand, there's food that tastes so good that you don't care what happens to you.  i would say the fresh olives, olive oil, figs, falafels, goat cheese, pita bread, was really good.  i felt like i was right out of 'raider's of the lost ark' when we went around to archeological sites.  it's really neat to travel.  (how is it that some people never lose stuff or get sick?  it must be from travelling alot)  i was terrible at currency exchange and had to ask the vendors to just give me back the appropriate change.

Lived in US 'til I was 26.  1st foreign country was Mexico, briefly.  Then Japan, 33 yrs.; Goose Bay, Labrador, Newfoundland, Canada, 1 yr.  Visited Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Hong Kong when it still was a country, Singapore, Germany, Austria, Switzerland.  Best country for raising our son was Japan where he was born & lived until college.  Japan is still best, primarily because citizens there do not have guns.  The only Japanese with guns are the police, self-defense forces, and yakuza, and they don't shoot law abiding citizens.

Bosnia (my home country; lived there for 3 years before the war broke out)
Croatia (vaca :D)
Macedonia (fled there, and resided there for 6 months, due to the war)
Germany (lived there for 4 yrs as a refugee)
USA (my residence since I was 8, but not for long)
Austria (stayed there a few days because of the Bosnia-Austria flights)
Bahamas (show choir and band tour - cruise - for a few days)

I'm not sure if I actually ever went to Serbia & Montenegro though, but prob as a baby.

Well, I think that's it for now..
