Group classes
on: April 28, 2002, 10:24:15 PM
Hi-

I have just graduated from university and will be persuing a masters degree in the fall. Part of my masters involves teaching 2 group classes: levels 2 and 5/6.  There is roughly 8-10 kids in each class.  I need advice on activities to do, any good books about how to approach these classes and anything else you can tell me!

Thanks alot,
Mandy

Are you familiar with the book "Music Mind Games" by ....oh, shoot, I can't remember the author, and I haven't gotten my book yet (just ordered it)  ::).  It's Japanese, and the publisher is Warner Bros.  I'll post the author's name later if you are interested.  It's full of games and activities for teaching lots of different music concepts, and you can order manipulatives separately to use with some of the games.  Not sure of the level of the activities or of your students, but it's worth looking into.   Good luck!

hey, I just did some group teaching during my prac for university. During which I made up some listening sheets and performance item arrangements. But I guess they were for a slightly older group age. There quite a big selection of music education books for activities in the class room, such as class arrangements of songs, listening activites and score/graphic reading exercises, keyboard learning skills, group composition etc etc.
