Is Steinway your ultimate destiny?
on: September 24, 2005, 01:15:50 AM
When I hear a extravagant sound of a grand piano, I dont have to second guess it's not a Steinway.  Infact, I can pretty much bet my beer money on it.   :D  It almost seems there's no other piano's out there that can match the sound and quality of craftmanship of a Steinway.  When I see a grand concert Steinway, I see not just a piano but something devine.  A enlightening experience  occurs and my eyes go crossed eyed, my knees starts to shake like a duck walk going out of style. :o My palms gets all sweaty and sometimes I begin to hear Beethoven "Moonlight Sonata."   :o Go figure!!

It almost seems there are no other pianos out there that matches the sound and quality of craftmanship of a Steingraeber.

It almost seems there are no other pianos out there that matches the sound and quality of craftmanship of a Foerster.

It almost seems there are no other pianos out there that matches the sound and quality of craftmanship of a Yamaha.

It almost seems there are no other pianos out there that matches the sound and quality of craftmanship of a Young Chang.

It almost seems there are no other pianos out there that matches the sound and quality of craftmanship of a Bechstein.

You get the idea :)

Your ears are fooling you. Many other pianos are used in recording studios, and electronic magic can make many smaller grands sound like 9ft concert grands. I guess you have'nt played a Bösendorfer Imperial concert grand, because you would be saying the same thing as in you're Steinway comparison, except it's more of an erotic experience.

I think your Ferrari comment in the other thread is probably a good analogy.

The word "Ferrari" puts across a perception / image of a car - that's accepted by "everyone" - you don't have to know anything about cars. In reality "Ferrari" is also the name a bunch of products you can buy - they are good, no doubt, but nevertheless not without equal and flawed in many ways, just like any other product.

Buy one of each and see.

You´re so acustomed to the Steinway sound, that every other pianos seems strange.

Don´t get mad, but that happens with Coke too. I´ve told this once, and all got mad with me. But it´s true. I don´t care.

I like Steinway pianos, I´m saturated too.
But I like Bösendorfer, Förster and Yamaha the same way.
