If anybody starts another Lang Lang thread...
on: September 24, 2005, 09:17:31 PM
I, like most pianists I know, am rather indifferent to Lang Lang. But, EVEN if he were the greatest pianist to even tickle the ivories, EVEN if he was the love child of Chopin and Liszt, with Godowsky and Richter thrown in for good measure, he still could not warrant the number of threads he receives on this forum. ::) Please save me, I'm LANGuishing.

I'm sorry . . . .   but for me, this is negative thinking.

What is YOUR opinion of Lang Lang?

I am holding my breath, waiting for your reply.

Out of curiousity... You realise MrChops that once again you have raised Lang Lang in a topic... It won't be long before Stevie comes in hear with his nonsense ramblings and boast on how good Lang Lang is.

You're the one who has raised another thread about him.

What am I going to do... Hopefully hang Mr Chops with Piano wire for bringing this dumb thread about.  ;D

The guy could have once been a member of this forum maybe he still is, it isn't that crazy of an idea realy the internet and piano chat, and there is Lang Lang viewing all these threads about how bad his playing is and mocking his mannerisms (your going to cause the poor kid a nervous breakdown) I susspect Lang Lang is going to suffer the same fate as Rachmaninov did at the hands of the critics of his day, do we realy want to be that cruel?.

Just to be straight, I wasn't criticizing Lang Lang at all. I just glanced through the most recent threads and saw that about 6 were about him, so I decided to go on the offensive. And if Lang Lang is reading this, I'm sorry, I love you. I heard your Records du Don Juan on the radio, really good. Really.

But come on, people, six threads...

Too much work. You gotta figure out which string, i.e. what note to use. Do you want to do it using a B flat or a C? Which octave? Will the string hold, or do you need one from the bass register? Imagine, it doesn't quite work. One would end up with a nasty scar around the neck that will immediately identify someone having been fed up by LL threads. The copper sheeth will give you a nasty poisening, too. So, better do it tre corde, not una corda. For the greatest effect, I would recommend using a tritone ;D

I have nothing to contribute to this thread, besides saying that although I respected Xvimbi before, the futurama reference makes  you officially the coolestest person on the forum.

Why is it that the popular almost always attract an aundinece who tries to ridicule the subject into unpopularity to the point where the unpopular achieves a status of popularity?
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

WHAT THE HELL IS EVERYBODIES PROBLEM WITH LANG LANG!!!!! gawd, just leave the poor man alone!!!!  He has his own style of playing the piano, so do you. If you don't like the way he plays, THEN DON'T LISTEN TO HIM. Critisizing his playing, the way you guys do, is like critisizing someone of how they live their life. They have their life to live, and you live yours. I don't think I've seen so many mixed, mostly negative, comments about one pianist. :o Besides, if he's selling millions of albums around the world and making this much money, you know he got to be doin somethin right......

You see, thats why everyone hates him. Because he sells millions of albums, but he's not doing anything right. He plain sucks and he is destroying the fine classical decency found in classical music. Thats why everybody hates him... And the fact that the people who like him, don't know a decent pianist from some slob from the streets. People who don't know anything about music, just assume that he's good, and that's why people hate him.

He's destroying piano and getting rich of it. The guy should be bankrupt...

Does THAT answer your problem??

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
