playing a simple progression of g major...
on: October 05, 2005, 09:46:58 PM
G F# E D C B A
G F#
we play the itatlic part the 1st finger then the 4th, right??
however, although I have no problem playing that, of course, I always feel that my movement is too great, esp with my right hand... any one knows how to shorten the movement with less strain??
thx for any tip..

Looks like the standard fingering you would use on the decending part of a G major scale.
5-4 - 3 - 2-1-3-2-
1-4
G-F#-E -D-C-B-A-
G-F#

If you have your hand (and forearm) angled slightly -- so that your fingers are not parallel to the keys (in the horizontal plane), but pointing slightly left, you may find it easier.
Depending on context, you could also use different fingering.

Have a look here:

(Thumb over is a misnomer: it consists of co-ordinating four separate movements).
(But you will need someone to actually show this to you).
Best wishes,
Bernhard.

thx to you all,
I now feel comfortable playing it..
in my case, my left hand gradually move forwards and shift left until the point where my 4th finger cross the 1st finger..
