can anyone explain this grade levels thing? I've played piano for many years, but never heard of any levels, maybe because i live in norway. What are the levels on these songs for example?
chopin's minute waltz
brahms rhapsody in G minor (op. 79)
rachmaninofs Prelude in G minor (Op.23)
chopin's fantasie impromptu

 :-X cool smiley.
peace out.

Jeg tror det er veldig få i Norge som faktisk bruker sånne system, ettersom jeg ikke hadde hørt om det før jeg kom på dette forumet selv ;D

There's several grading systems; RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music -Toronto), and ABRSM(https://www.abrsm.org/), and probably a few more.  Correct me someone if I'm wrong but I think the grades range from 1 to 8+ in ABRSM and from 1 to 10 in RCM, then there's "Associate levels" wchich I really don't know anything about. If I remember correctly Fantasie Impromptu is supposed to be ABRSM Grade 8 whereas Für Elise for example is Grade 4. But a quick search on the forums will probably give you an answer to that and the rest. Personally I don't care too much about the rating systems...

The RCM has the following pieces listed in their piano syllabus;

Minute Waltz at Grade 9 level

Op.66, Fantasie-impromptu, Op.79, Rhapsody in G minor  and Op.23, Prelude in G minor at ARCT level

Cheers

While we're in on it, allthumbs: you wouldn't happen to know where Ravel Sonatine and Chopin Etude Op10 No4 is in the RCM system?

I don't know why but I could of sworn that I had seen Pavane pour une Infante Defunte by Ravel at grade 9 RCM level... I checked and it's not there lol... what level is it in ABRSM out of curiosity?
