To me, all it demonstrates is the hip hop/rock "artist"'s lack of creative imagination, if their own composition skills are so weak that they have to adapt existing music, that is originally far greater.

I miss the point of doing something like this. A new electronic interpretation, ok. But using a recording of an orchestra and rap over it, why?

I don't mind if they twist the music with a little light rock.. like Maksim Marvica, then i don't mind it, because I know that he does have pieces where he skicks very heavily to the original and only puts in little extra effects. Plus the fact that he also composes songs is pretty clever (for him). At least he can do both - mix and compose. Plus I like the fact that Maksim is doing it to try and get students and teens more interested in Classical music.

But as for rap and hip hop. I've heard that Beethovens Symphonie No. 5 version, and I'm not too keen on it. I hate hip hop music... (Maybe thats why I hate it).

In bad taste, that stuff won't be found in my CD collection.

But if it can help people get into classical, or at least weaken the bias against classical, that's a good thing.

I've tried, but can't really get into hip-hop. A friend showed me some pretty interesting hip-hop that I didn't hate, good cruising music and good lyrics (none of that gangsta/thug BS).

I don't pay much attention, but it seems like some of the more mainstream rap is getting more melodic...

Hip-hop, while I don't like it all that much, has the potential to be a good musical genre.  It is just too bad that corporations and individuals have taken advantage of it's popularity to spread certain marketing and political views to it's listeners.  Then again we probably won't be able to asssess it's full value until some time in the future when we are able to take a step back an look at the big picture and how it fits into the historical timeline.

Way back in the 1950's, there was a very popular rock song called "Roll Over, Beethoven."

It continues to be played occasionally on "oldies" stations.  I really don't know if it incorporated any melodies from Beethoven.

Just to make mention of that -- I have no strong opinion on whether this sort of thing is objectionable or not.

Xzibit - Paparrazi (using a sample from that famous piece which I always confuse with something from Carmina Burana)

this dude named JapanFace sampled fur elise and just tore it up on stage

no but seriously..i'v heard good and bad with rock.hip hop.techno/house/trance renditions of classical pieces..you cant just over generalize and say one genre rendition is better than another..artists are different and it really it up to the final quality of the product to determine whether it blows or not...

I want to hear other people's opinion

I haven't heard it, but for hop hop / rapping in general, if it's done well it's ok.
I wouldn't have much issue with the piece being based on a classical piece.

I reckon the pretending to be black thing is worse than any taboo subject matter in the lyrics though.

"Oh my pregnant dog has no respect. Yo!
But I'm from the streets, so I asked my parents permission and I went downtown and told her I was talking about the dog - I think she believed me. Yo!

I'm da man. I wrote a 'rap' bout owning a gun and daddy said 'you're grounded son'
But I'm just like a black kid in the ghetto because I went ta bed 5 minutes late that night and that showed him I do what I like. Yo! Next morning I didn't clean my teeth Yo! I'm da rebel!

I had my allowance cut and so I went out on the street to make up the dollars and I walked into the bank with my bros and asked for a high interest saving's account yo!

I'm cruising round the town, the policeman ignored me so I drive 'round the block 10 times, he stops me, cos I is a rapper and the police hassle us, it's tough on the streets. He says 'Excuse me sir, I've noticed you driving around here for a while, I wondered if you are lost and I could help? It's a police state. Yo!"

I don't have anything against classical adaptations in theory, but I've never seen anyone pull it off.  (closest is ELP's Hoedown.)

Verdi; "Opera is opera, Symphony is symphony"....

arensky; "Hip hop is hip hop, Classical is classical"

It's a bad idea, the crossbreeding does justice to either idiom.
