I played it alright!

I enjoyed playing it.  It has a sweet sound.  The action is loose.  I know they changed the actionto make it heavier.  The explanation I got was that they made it more like the actions of other steinways because they frequently have concerts on this piano as it tours across America and the Steinway artists complained that they can't play on this piano.  Thus they had to redo the action.

I think this piano is going to get beat up pretty quickly.  As lots of people have played on it.  Who else beside Koji has played on this piano?  (CD 503)?

So far I only know one piece on the piano   Just really got started with it.  So I played it over and over and over... and after about half and hour they kicked me off it, because some steinway artist showed up and wanted to warm up on the piano in preparation for the concert that night.

I played the Debussy Arabesque #1.  I made a little recording of the Debussy on my own Steinway at home and it's in the "audition room" message board.  Listen at your own risk.  I recorded it on the yamaha electric piano too.

I wish I could play some Horowitz stuff!  Maybe someday.  I'm still trying to work on the Arabesque.  I'll record it again when I get better at it and maybe post it here.

But now I'm learning another piece.  Bach invention #1.  And also started fooling around with other pieces!  Piano is so much fun.  I really should be spending time with my violin, but ahhh.. the piano... I wonder why I never picked it up when I was younger.  The piano definitely cuts into my violin time.  But it's worth it.

I was talking to the Piano Technician that just finished working on the piano before I got to play on it, and he told me that this is probably the most used / "abused" piano.  It goes on tour and powerful professional pianists (like Koji) from all over give it a workout for hours and hours.  Then you have amateurs that doen't really know how to play bang on it for hours and hours and even crawl under the piano to look at the thing  

The piano technician agrees that the piano action and hammers have all been changed and will probably be changed again.  He said at least the general sound quality is mostly the same.

I just played on it so I can say I played on it.
