Advice on what to do after school
on: August 18, 2003, 08:59:01 AM
Hi all,
At the moment I am caught in two minds regarding where to go after school (I am near London so working on the British system). My initial choices are the Royal College, Royal Academy and Royal Northern, and I thought up until a few days ago that I would apply for Kings London and Manchester Uni as a back up. However, with my grades it is possible that I could get into Cambridge too, although I don't like the course as much as at Kings or Manchester. The dilemna I face is this: if I cannot get into music college, chances are I will not make it as a concert pianist - so the university that I study at will be very important in my future career. Additionally, many musicians (e.g. Thomas Ades, Emma Johnson) have studied at Cambridge and are now wonderful performers. It is crucial that I think about this now because application deadlines for Cambridge are mid-October.
Please could I have some advice on this topic,
Thanks very much,
Ed

well my advice is this (and don't count on it if you don't trust me, it might not be so good
)
Apply for all the music academies that you know of, and then get into the most prestigous/famous one you can get into, that way at least
newayz good luck
