I have listened to the Teleman Variations and was immensly impressed.

Is this of similar quality??

I'm thinking of getting the Hamelin version of this.  It's so expensive though.  :(

They are very similar in structure. But the themes are polar opposite. The teleman theme is very happy. lively and frivolous while the Bach theme sounds dark, slow and intellectual.

I prefer the ones on the Bach theme.

Thanks -- I don't know the piece .... but if Reger's Variations and Fugue is anywhere near as great as Brahms' Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel, op. 24, then I'll be dancin' in the streets.
