piano party
on: October 16, 2005, 06:08:07 PM
ok.  erwin chan is cool.  he had a piano party in philly that a lot of people came to.  now i've met a few people on the forum (but hope they will again tell me their user names here so i can remember)!  anyway, that was fun.  thanks erwin!  and, for the lox (salmon) - it was soooo good.

i want to hear more people play...so, i am offerring my house at thanksgiving.  how about coming around 11 but leaving whenever you want.  i have a kawaii upright (which is in need of regulating) which i hope i'll have money to get into decent order, and a hammond organ.  i also bought a slew of piano concerto cd's if anyone has a cd player they want to bring.

also, i'll make some dinner and if anyone wants to just come to eat - they can just eat and talk about music.  will probably serve a meal around 1:00 pm.  let me know via the message board if you want to come so i know how many people.

i live at 431 kennedy road in collegeville, pennsylvania.  if you wish to carpool, it's probably a good idea as there is only a certain amount of parking space near the sidewalk.  3-5 cars.

Ahhh you are too kind and I will miss out as I am on the other side of the plannet, although I would love to come and smootch piano all night long however I am afraid the plain fare would set me back over half a grand, so you are just going to have to inflate my jealousy and tell me how it went :( :( :(

wow.  i'd love to have national and international guests.  i know what, thalbergmad, you come in the spring and we'll have a party here and then go hear that saint-saens organ concerto at the kimmel center.

my party will be thanksgiving day, nov. 24th.  you can come for that, too, thalbergmad and berrt on the QE2 (whatever that is) and make gorbeenatcase jealous.  wish you all really could come!

Looking on the web, Collegeville has population of 9,000, but only 2361 are girls.

What kind of place is that?

Looks very pretty thought, i think i will have to come out.

Where is the nearest airport??

Do i need my gun??

what?   a gun?  for what?   oh, yes.  i see.  deer hunting.  that's terrible.  and, no - you can't.  not my deer.  i let them have my strawberries if they're hungry.  they are just innocent deer.

yes.  the women are few but they're all good looking.  i haven't seen any ugly ones.  it's the cheese.  they're all danish, blond, blue-eyed - and eat cheese.

now, for women who are single - this really is the place.  all you have to do is stand inside or outside of wawa and look helpless (help, i locked myself out of the car) and you'll have 12 guys helping you.  they open the doors (have never been in a state where guys do this regularly).  it's the way they're raised here.

firefighters, policemen, construction workers - all freqent the wawa's.  if you go early in the morning, you get the hard working ones (i think).  later in the afternoon, the bums come in for cigarettes.  how do i know this?  my kids like to go around 3pm after school to buy a snack once in a while.  (and occasionally really early for something for lunch).

never in my life have i seen such square houses, either.  they really know how to build here.  nothing falls apart unless it's really old.  of course, there are really old buildings here and there.  that's a trip in itself (around historic sites).  then, on route 100 there's daniel boone's homestead if you like history in the wilderness.

people are generally very honest here.  and, friendly.  family oriented (2-3 children is the norm - and it's not unusual to meet up with a family of 10-12 at the park).  children never get run over walking across the street to school.  the crossing guard is borderline policelike and will not allow tresspassers to intrude the crosswalk without a mean look.  the grass is always green here - and i think it is an artist and gardeners paradise here.  audubon's home is not far from where i live.  haven't been there yet.

*but best of all, there is a bicycle trail that runs through valley forge on the way to philly.  you can ride for miles and miles along the schukyll river.  it's very pretty and lots of animals.  the deer occasionally jump the fence - so you have to watch out for them.  if you're into weapons, you can check out the valley forge museaum and look at civil war swords and outfits.  find out about george washington and see how small the cabins were in comparison to how many soldiers dwelt in them.

the pocono mountains are up north.  and, also pennsylvania has it's own grand canyon.  haven't been there, but it's a great hike i hear.  i've hiked portions of the appalachian trail.  there are canoe trips and many fun things to do.

ok.  the major airport is the philadelphia airport and there's minor airport nearby here called the pottstown airport (or limerick airport).  limerick, which is obviously an irish settlement, has only green firetrucks!

oh, and west chester university is building a music building (supposed to be complete next summer) with all new steinways in each practice room.
