ok for auditions I will be performing the Shubert Impromptu in Bb. for my other piece I can choose between Franck's Prelude op. 18 or Bach's D maj. P&F book 1.

which would be a better choice in the eyes of the jurors.

Auditions where, for what? I would play the Prelude and Fugue, it shows that you have more range than if you play two Romantic pieces.

Go with the Franck.  This will show cultural diversity -- rather than two pieces from Austro-German composers.

Cultural diversity? Bach vs. Franck? White 19th French  Century Roman Catholic Church Organist vs. White 18th Century North German Lutheran Organist ?

what kind of cultural diversity is that?

Besides this is not about cultural diversity it's about BOLIVER GETTING INTO MUSIC SCHOOL!!!!

Think about it Boliver...

Assuming you can play both pieces equally well during the auditions; Play the piece you like most.

Go with the Bach P&F. Music doesn't get better than Bach. :)

I decided to call the school today and just ask them if the Franck was a big enough contrast. Well after talking for a couple of minutes, the piano teacher said that I should play all three pieces. That would give me big brownie points. He also while you are at it, why don't you come down and play for me soon. Kinda free mini lesson. I agreed for sure.

the lesson is going to be awesome, because this is the guy that I want to study with. So I am stoked, now off to learn them all.
