While waiting for my lesson this past week, I heard the student before me playing the most amazing 20th century piece. (I arrived 45 minutes before my lesson and there was not one, NOT ONE, open practice room in the entire university to warm up in...but that's another story.) In my lesson I asked my teacher what it was and she said the Dello Joio 3rd Sonata.
I have got to learn this piece one day! I didn't ask my teacher about it because right now I have a whole lot I'm working on, Bach P&F, Beethoven Sonata, some Chopin and Brahms and Ginastera!
SO my question is or questions are: Is anyone familiar with this sonata? Has anyone here played it? How difficult is it?
