My Yamaha U3 Key Action Advice
on: October 22, 2005, 01:10:49 PM
So i have a yahama U3 after dumping the crappy Kawai, uneven keys, and texture and feel, the U3 is much better.

At my school, there are 2 Seiler Grands, they are just beautiful babes, I always try to spare my time to play it, because it just feels godly to play a grand. I have not played too many grands in my life, i am just 14.

I actually prefer heavier key action over light ones because i feel more controlling with a heavy key action for some reason, and as we all know, yahama uses pretty like key action, which I don't like too much, is there anyway to increase the weights? No, i am not buying a new piano, but alternatives? Or is there nothing I can do and stick with a piano that is just like pressing tofu, besides, heavy keys give your fingers quite some workout

No I'm not serious - you've 2 questions, one that needs a tech to answer [whether it can be done] and one that needs your tech to answer [whether he can do it]

No one except your tech can say whether he can do it. He'll be there next week, so you can ask him.

You may as well ask him the other question if you don't get a reply before - I can't see the desperate nature because if he can't do it, you'll need another tech that can. So whatever the answer might be you need to speak to a local tech about it.

Although if you search you'll probably find the topic addressed in general - the only tech I know of in the forum doesn't seem to post much these days - aiui there are several factors involved in how heavy the action feels and what can be done - so the answer is probably "it depends"
