Classicarts
on: October 24, 2005, 03:25:06 AM
This topic is fo the sole discussion of this channel. Ironically, this channel brings back classic performance, of every performance arts genre. Ah watched a ballet from almost 40 years ago. I've seen black and white performances of Scarlatti sonatas - ON A HARPSICHORD!!! I've the young Kissin - not much of him has changed ironically- and i've seen the old ...well.. an old pianist. This channel take us back down memory lane, and on this very night drudged several long forgotten classics. Let's give the classic art channel a big shout out.

Ironically, no situation comparison intended 8)

I thought you meant the person who posts under the username "classicarts" and I'm sure they will think that too.  LOL

"You're so vain-I'll bet you thought this thread was about you didn't you?" LOL

Sounds like a cool channel-wish I got it tho it'd be cool(er) to see current artists and performances too.

Is this channel similar to the "artsworld" or "performance" channels you get on sky? I love those channels, they play loads of old ballets, concerts and a bit of Barenboim, Kissin and others...

Piano Street Magazine:
Women and the Chopin Competition: Breaking Barriers in Classical Music

The piano, a sleek monument of polished wood and ivory keys, holds a curious, often paradoxical, position in music history, especially for women. While offering a crucial outlet for female expression in societies where opportunities were often limited, it also became a stage for complex gender dynamics, sometimes subtle, sometimes stark. From drawing-room whispers in the 19th century to the thunderous applause of today’s concert halls, the story of women and the piano is a narrative woven with threads of remarkable progress and stubbornly persistent challenges.
