Left hand pieces.. Any suggestions??

I'm looking for a LH (only) piece.  It cant be too difficult, its a for a student of mine who is doing his grade 9 RCM this year.

Obviously Chopin-Godowsky études are out of the question.  Saint-Saens is borderline I guess, bud they arent that nice sounding IMO..

Any suggestions ?

Thanks, that is the best suited piece so far!  All the  other stuff I found is just too hard, too long or not nice..

Agreed.. But way too hard.. I'm a very big fan of Alkan, since earlier this year I've learned a few studies.. I had spoken to this person named "comme", as in Comme le vent i guess.. Are you that person?

For 2006, I'm hopin to try the Grande Sonate (les 4 âges).

The Alkan is really quite beautiful. It is incredibly hard, but there's really nothing that should stop you if you're skilled enough to be considering Grande Sonate.

but also check out that guy jemboy's video of the LH 25/12

this really shows you how difficult it is, he blazes through horowitz transcriptions and the like....but the godowsky studies require a whole new and more compelx from of virtuosity, exreme left hand dexterity, and he is messy, slow, and required many edits to get it right, he may get it right in future...but this just shows you what seperates virtuosi...from supervirtuosi

and this can only come through hard work, over a long time, to develop the left hand
