I havenīt heard one recording of this work that I really liked. Either itīs played too fast , too "heavyhanded" or both.

Can anyone recomend one?

I like the recording by Robert Casadesus, have you heard that one?

Yes and I donīt like it all. Way to macho and fast.

This is a work for a pianist with a light touch and and a good ear for tonal beauty.

Sorry for digging up a 7 year old thread, but have you heard it played by gilels?  His recording is my favorite.  Not too heavy handed (although I'd prefer a little lighter still) and you can definitely hear the tonal color beauty.

I like Sokolov's, although it sounds as though it may be too fast for your taste.  I don't think you'd complain about the touch and tone, though.
