'Moonlight' 3rd movement
on: November 09, 2005, 04:17:12 AM
I've already learned 1st movement and 2nd and now I'm learning the 3rd movement I can get all the notes righ but a can't play it nearly fast enough. Is this normal, not being able to play a peice fast enough at first. Or do I need finger weights to make fingers stronger and faster. Or do I need to do finger exercises to learn to play fast enough.
Please post suggestions,
Thanks,
Spitz

It is a difficult piece to get up to speed and I am sure it will come to you. Be patient with it as getting any piece that is "presto agitato" up to speed will require special treatment.
Try and get your first 2 pages up to speed first by giving them more attention, It is such a boost when it falls together I trust you will finnish it.
p.s. Once you do learn it don't allow it to fall apart as this piece does need constant nurturing and having to part learn it again is a real pain. its not about finger streangth

Practice slowly. Don't focus on difficulties of speed and technique - they're of the least importance, even in this "virtuosic" movement.
