New Piano Teacher on the Forum
on: September 04, 2003, 11:09:41 PM
Hello! I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Ben Hanson. I'm a piano teacher of 5 years now. I'm a sophomore at a local university going for Music Education - Choral. I started teaching 2 twin boys and after that have had over 20+ students; not bad for a college sophomore, huh? I've had 13 years of piano lessons and my piano teacher was the best person to ask questions to; she helped me be a piano teacher. I've been very interested in all of your postings. Piano teachers need to come together because so often, we are forgotten and think that it's just a job. It's way more than "just a job" for some of us. As a teacher, I feel very connected with my students, and wish them all the best. I applaud all the teachers out there who have done this longer than myself. I think you guys deserve much more than you receive. I hope to hear from all of you very soon.
Take care,
Ben

Wow...I've never ventured into this board, I think. But I took my first few ginger steps and saw this post
. That is great, Brotherben. I do believe that it is a great honour to pass along the joys of music to others. Good luck with that! I recognize that teachers are a special bree of pianists who have the capability and compassion to pass along this gift. Without them, there may be no more pianists! Wow. It is also nice to see others who are interested in this field. It almost seems that this culture is dying out, well, from where I live, it's like that. It is essential to have an understanding teacher who can understand the student and their needs. My past teacher is on her 53rd year, and she is still going strong in teaching, though she was advised to slow down with the teaching. That is why I gave to take my ARCT wuth another teacher. But it is a great occurence to experience a different teacher who primarily teaches university-level students.
As for PianoProgBonsWay, I think that all you are doing to help students like me learn the piano better is very, well, how do I put this...hmm... the first word that comes to my mind is cool
, pardon the lack of vocab at this moment, I've seemed to blank out
. It's very nice to see someone who is so devoted to the teaching of music. May you have many more years of teaching excellence
.
Good luck to all teachers,
