I think it's good. The only thing I have to say is that you could use a bit more dynamic variation in the beginning. But the rest of the piece is very dramatic

Thanks for your comments... and yes! you do know what I look like! I might record my other exam pieces.. Scarlatti Sonata in D (but it's hard to get note perfect...) and Mozart Sonata in C (very long... i might do it in two separate videos... one for first half etc.) Is it better for me to do MP3 or video? It's just as easy either way for me...

Wow, Im amazed you managed to play octaves on the black keys with fingers 1-5.  If it were me playing, I would have to use 1-4 or 1-3, or it would be full of wrong notes.  But you managed ok..

hi. your music is very good.excellent!  I 'm gonna have the grade 8 exam too. can u play the mozart in C, i wanna listen to it. i think it's better to record in video, yup it's more interesting.

Wow, that is an excellent performance. I am planning to do grade 8 next year. What are the other pieces you chose? I would love to here them. I have chosen the Bach Allemande, Mozart sonata and a piece by Arensky.

Yes, i'm doing the Mozart Sonata too but my 'A' piece is the Scarlatti Sonata in D. Im going to put up the videos of them tonight hopefully...

Did you try the Arensky piece? This one had me fooled for a while, as it 'looks' really easy while in reality is not at all (for me at least!). Lovely piece though.

wow i did exactly the same pieces as you for my grade 8!! the liszt sounds great, its wierd i thort that went best in my exam but i actually got least points for it, whereas the scarlatti i thort went wrong but i got the highest points! heh good luck

i think id do the beginning a bit slower... creates more atmosphere. bit more dynamics? cuz then it contrasts with the loud part towards the end. yeah basically i did it a lot slower i dunno u play it really nicely just maybe slow down a little.

Hey, I'm taking Grade 8 too... I'm doing the Scralatti, the Mozart and the Schumann. 

I think you should use a bit more rubato and make the tremolo more prominent.  Also, consider playing the earlier part slower so that there's some suspense.  You played the middle sections well though.

Right.. i scanned the sheets with adobe acrobat and have uploaded them to a free hoster because i don't know how to get the size down to a reasonable amount!!! It's about 11mb, not too bad...

hey thanks for the sheets. I am not sure if I will play it yet. I have to find a list C piece to play. I have the Bach prelude and fugue in a minor and the Beethoven op 90 for the other two pieces. I think the liszt would be a great contrast and technique wise I wouldn't be learning anything new (which is good, because I am in a time constraint) just learning how to apply it to the music. I think the tempo is a good contrast as well. I have my theory exam in about two hours. I will meet my teacher there and see what he thinks. I will bring along the sheets. thanks agains for the sheets. If I do decide to play it I will post a recording. I have the prelude pretty much up to notch so I should post a recording of it as well.

hehehe.. sure. Ill just have to wait until my parents are out one night so I can have a really good practise and record it, cos the pianos in the middle of the living room... lol! they cant do much else when i play!
