Okay so I have what will probably be my biggest performance ever on Sunday night. (Trust me, it's not that big, I'm very sheltered). But I will be playing in a real concert setting, not just a "recital." There is a whole bunch of us playing and singing, so I'm just part of the program. All the registered teachers of our area are putting it on. But here's my question. Do I dare get my parents to video tape it? I've never taped myself performing before, except in my living room when I was practicing. I REALLY don't want to mess this up because even though it's small compared to alot of the things people on here have played at, it probably will be the biggest solo moment I'm going to get. Which is also the reason I want to tape it. I don't know. I don't want to have added pressure, but I really want to remember this night. What do I do?? :-
Hmm.... You know what m1469? I think I will. If I blow it, I will try my best to recover gracefully so that I don't completely die laughing when I watch they tape. Of course, laughing at blowing it will only come a few days LATER, hehe. Thank you.
Good point allchopin. But I'm afraid I have some sad news . Our digital camera only takes a 3 minute video, and my piece is 3 minutes and 30 seconds not including the introduction! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! So what do I do? Tape most of a piece? Or what? No, buying a real video camera before Sunday is not an option, and no, I don't know anyone who has one. Sigh.EDIT: Thanks anyway m1469. Hey, less than 7 hours till showtime. I'm excited!
Hey, I think it went pretty good. I never lost the beat, (not seriously, anyway), but there was a few places that it got a little messy. My mess only affected the MELODY in one spot, though. The rest was pretty much just harmonically sloppy at times. I blanked once so I just repeated the motive I had just played while I quickly remembered what came next, so only my mom and my teacher could tell, because they've heard me play it without that added bar . My hands were a bit shaky, but not too bad. I didn't have a story to go with the piece, though, so I'm afraid I was in analysis mode through the whole thing, but it's a crowd pleaser piece anyway, so I don't think they noticed my lack of emotional envolvement too much. Btw, I played "A Classical Rock," by Frank Mills. It's Canada Music Week here, so it had to be by a Canadian composer, since that was the recital's theme. Thanks for asking JP. Hey? Do I write like a girl or something? Or did you check my profile? Lol
